My 11 year old graduates from 5th grade in less than 7 days. The school was conned by some photo company into letting them take 'Graduation' pics of the kids, you know, like the greeting card companies sell us holidays we've never heard of and we buy the cards cos otherwise we look like heels.

So we get these sample proofs.. Dear God, he's so adorable. I my hafta buy the pics now.

So I splurged and got one of the Brotherhood zines, #8. It arrived the other day and WOW!!! You get a LOT of bang for your buck!

When I see the word, 'zine' I think that's short for magazine. When it arrives in the mail? IT'S A BOOK!!!! COOL!

Over 400 pages of some of my favorite authors! I admit, I ordered it for Gaelicspirit's story but when I saw the table of contents and there are stories by Scullspeare, Kimonkey7, geminigrl11, Sodakey, gekizetsu, Maygin, K Hanna Korossy, Gert and Dodger Winslow, I think I swooned.

Now, I'm having to hold myself back and not skip straight to Gaelic's story, and sofar I've contained myself. I'm knee-deep into Scullspeare's story, 'Counting Coup' and it's just brilliant. Lovely. Suspenseful and so outright cool.

And I'm blown away at how organized and uber-cool this fandom is that could put something like this together. I could never write on the caliper of these authors, and so many others I read daily and just love to pieces, but it's nice to be embraced and cool to be a part of this Supernatural fandom.

ROCK ON! *hi fives*

So, my hubbie went to Chicago Thursday and just got back late this afternoon, Valentines Day.

He was reserved when he walked in the door, but no less sweet. Something was up. I could tell. As the kids finished with their 'welcome home' hugs and tootled off to their various games and stuff.... We talked. )

Murphy is home and loving IT! Yea, and we're loving him too, but most impressive is Sidney's acceptance of this lil' chewing, barking, goofy bundle of puppy.

The first night, when we got home, it was late, about 7 p.m. With the oldest at work and the younger at a friends home it was even later by the time they all got home to discover the puppy surprise!

Ryan got home first and glanced in the window next to the door to see a small blond pup laying in the middle of the floor. A soft, barely audible, 'Ooooh...' emitted, then the door was flung open and the rest? Was history. It was love at first sight, and Murphy is so very cuddly, they bonded instantly.

Our oldest, at 17, having already been where our youngest is now with our first dog, was more composed, but no less happy to see Murphy. He's excited to help out, and his main responsibility is to keep Sidney full of love and assurances that she's still loved.

Here are some pics and thoughts of Murphy's first couple of days in our home, his home. I've got to upload some video tomorrow, but for now, the stills, well, they're so darn CUTE!

ENJOY! )

ROFL.. My little sister had to go over to my older sister's house today to check on a used car she was going to buy (my brother-in-law repairs and sometimes sells cars). While there, she got to visit with our soon-to-be newest pack member, and she said he sang for her. Unfortunately, this is just a still, but .. my God.. what a HUGE mouth he has!!!!

QUICK!!! Someone think of a cute tag for this pic and I'll submit it to LOL Dogs.

This little guy below,

will be coming to our home, HIS new home on Thursday, January 15, 2009 where he'll become the newest member of our pack and his primary teacher will be this girl, Sidney, below...

We are so very excited to add to our pack a new puppy. My husband and I named him Murphy and he's a yellow Lab. Our older dog is 1/2 Golden Retriever and 1/2 White German Shepard and for 7 years she's simply been the best dog evar! She will be the perfect introduction to our family, the best example of a great dog that he could have.

Our kids still don't know what's going on as we've actually managed to keep this a surprise.. and it's killing us!!!

We've been kicking around the idea of getting another dog. Our current dog, Sidney, she's just the best dog ever, but we want her training and tenderness to rub off on our next dog, so here we are.

While in the discussion stage, at Thanksgiving my oldest sister announced that their chocolate Lab, Boomer, has sired 11 pups with a yellow Lab that her daughter-in-law owns. Before we could even ask to take one, all 11 were spoken for! Amazing! We never got a chance to express an interest! But we were happy that all 11 found homes.

Then, tonight, our phone rang, just as we came home from seeing Marley & Me (bring tissues if you see that one) and my sister tells me one taker backed out when their grandparents got their kids a dog for Christmas - my sister's pups wouldn't be ready until the end of January. So, that said, the last remaining male dog was ours if we wanted him.

Sooooooo, we talked for another 10 minutes, called her back and said: HELL YES!

God. We. Are. Crazy. Puppy's are a lot of work. We aren't telling our boys until my husband walks in with him in his arms. He's a yellow Lab and we haven't decided on a name. Our boys will be so freakin happy, our dog will just be freaked and our lives will go from calm to choas at the end of January.

And for some reason? I can't wait!

So, I have a new laptop and well, none of the winrar downloads of the eps this season will play after I transferred them. Well, that's not exactly true. I get audio but no video and an error code that there's a codec's error.

Anyone have any ideas? I paid for WinRar on my other laptop and dude, don't wanna pay for it again. I'm just not technically literate for this kind of stuff.

HELP! I don't wanna lose all the eps I've downloaded!

*hugs shiny new laptop*

OH!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME,
I PRE-ordered David Cooks new cd-EEEEEEEEEEE,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

As a b-day present to myself, I pre-ordered David Cook's debut album from iTunes yesterday. Made it just under the wire to get the bonus track that won't be on the regular download.

If the pre-release track "Light On" is any indicator, (love that song) which he co-wrote with rock great Chris Cornell, I'm willing to wager this first CD will break Kelly Clarkson's debut cd release.

How it will fair against Daughtry I'm not sure.. but I love his cd too!

The actual release date Cook's CD is November 18. SO EXCITED!!!!

Well, with the start of school we officially handed the keys to the Sante Fe to our eldest, who starts his junior year in high school. I work from home and he drove it 90% of the time last year and when he took it to school I was left without a vehicle, which working from home I didn't necessarily need one.

Or so we thought.

Things kept coming up; my youngest son's school would call for this reason or that and I couldn't go there. No car. Had to call the hubbie from work to do this and that. With our youngest son starting peewee football, and my hubbie starting to travel more for work, and my shift change to working overnights and having 3 days off, I need a car now.

So, we decided against another Sante Fe coz they're about $30,000 and just a lot more car than we need presently. And I am kinda tired of the whole SUV experience and I'm ready too for a car with better gas mileage. THis one, once paid off, in 6 years will go to our youngest son when he starts driving.

Ok, so we got a Mazda 3, which is like a revamped and updated Protoge'. I owned a used Protege' years ago and it wasn't a bad car. This one? LOL.. isss niiiiiice. I gotta admit. I am in love with it's littleness (compared to the Sante Fe) and its peppiness - this sucker zooms and handles so nice. And, this one was featured at the Dallas AutoShow a few months ago and cost $10,000 less than the Sante Fe.

Here are Mazda 3 Pictures!! My new baby... )

Under the cut are my own thoughts and speculation as to what might happen in the opening permier of season 4 of Supernatural. Some of my speculations are based on what Kripke said at Comic Con..

Kripke admitted at Comic Con that earlier this summer he threw out some 'red herrings' for the fans to chomp on, )

Two nights until Ryan, my youngest, comes home from church camp. Lastnight, at 8 pm, when we normally lay down together and read a chapter from his favorite book, I found myself in his bed, lights off, staring at the glowing stars on his ceiling, his pillow clutched in my arms, praying for him. I miss him.

Two weeks until my best-es friend, [info]maimat, best-es friend in IN ALL OF THE WORLD, comes home. (August 8) Tam, if you're reading this: Dude, I sooooosooooosoooo miss you. I haven't had the heart to work on either of my fics since our last e-mail. Being out of touch with you seriously screws with my writing mojo. I MISS YOU! I feel like things are on hold without you to ground me every day.

Four weeks until school starts (August 25). Both boys will no longer be hanging out here at home, and I can get on a more normal sleep rhythm, what with my working over-nights and all and needing to sleep during the day.. WITHOUT INTERRUPTION! *sigh*

Eight weeks until season 4 of Supernatural starts (September 18)!!! I've been trying to stay spoiler-free. Now, not entirely sucessful, I know some of the casting stuff and some of the facts of what's coming up, but nothing specific. Then I find the Comi-Con panel posted over at Youtube and Kripke's brought a 5 minute clip from the season opener... but the person who posted the Comi-Con panel stuff cut it off at the airing of the clip. And while I appreciate it somewhat that I didn't see the clip... I WANNA SEE THAT CLIP!

*sigh* I'm so friggin weak. I want that clip. Anyone know where it might be at Youtube?

Finally, Sue Pokorny, over at ffnet, has a new story called Dead or Alive and it stems from the comments from Kripke about the backstory of Supernatural being based in the making of the Colt, during the time of the wild west, AND Jensen's commenting that he'd like to be in a western. Go read what she has up so far. I'm a HUGE fan of westerns and this fic just scratches that itch so perfectly. She already has the story done and is posting like ever two or three days.

Here's the link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4428683/1/Dead_or_Alive If you don't read WIP's, take a chance on this one coz it's great and technically it's done, just she's posting ever few days, so its not like it's going to just be abandoned.
